AI Speed to Lead: Call Every New Lead While They Still Remember You
Set up AI speed to lead in four steps, from your form trigger to live calls on your own number.
New leads called before they forget they filled out the form

Need the first call to land before the lead has moved on. People fill out forms between other things, and a little later many do not remember doing it. When the form is submitted, your form handler, CRM workflow, or automation tool asks Retell to place the call, and it goes out right away with the lead's name and form answers passed in as variables. The agent opens with the request the lead just made, so the call makes sense to them. Why the first minutes matter is covered in speed to lead.

Need every lead source covered, not only the form on your site. Lead forms on social ads, web forms, and quote requests usually land in your CRM or an automation tool first, and that is where the trigger lives. The agent confirms which ad or offer the person responded to and what they asked for before asking anything new. Leads who already picked a time on your calendar while filling out the form can be skipped or called only to confirm, depending on the rule you set.

Need the call to ask the first questions your reps would ask anyway. The agent confirms the details on the form, then asks a few questions one at a time, such as timeline, budget range, or the size of the job, and answers common questions from your own content. Answers are captured with post-call extraction and written back to the lead in HubSpot, Salesforce, Microsoft Dynamics 365, GoHighLevel, or Zoho CRM. The full qualification pattern is on AI lead qualification.

Need hot leads talking to a person when someone is free, and booked when nobody is. The agent offers to connect the lead with a rep now and places a warm transfer, briefing the rep privately before the lead joins. If the rep does not answer within the ring time you set, the transfer counts as failed and the agent goes back to the lead to book a meeting or a callback instead. Teams with nobody on standby skip the transfer and book straight away, so no lead is promised a person who is not there.

Need the leads who do not pick up worked properly too. Voicemail detection runs on every outbound call, and the agent either hangs up or leaves a short message with your name and why you called. Second and third attempts are scheduled by the workflow that placed the first call, and a text can follow from your SMS-enabled number once the lead has agreed to texts. Leads who ask not to be called again are marked do not call, and later calls placed with the do-not-call check skip them.

Need leads that arrive at night handled under the rules that apply to you. Some teams call around the clock because a lead is most interested right after submitting; others queue night leads for the morning because of calling-hour limits where the lead lives. Your trigger decides which, by the lead's time zone. Before the first call, confirm with your counsel that the form's consent language covers automated calls and texts from you, that the consent box is not pre-checked, and how a lead takes consent back. The TCPA guide for outbound AI calls lists what to check. This page is not legal advice.

Frequently asked questions.
How fast can the agent call a new lead?
As fast as your trigger fires. When your form, CRM, or automation tool asks Retell to place the call, it goes out right away, so the delay is mostly the time your own system takes to send the lead. HubSpot workflows and Zoho CRM workflow rules can trigger calls through Retell's marketplace apps, and any other system can call the create phone call API. Lists of older leads run through batch calling instead.
What happens if the rep does not pick up the transfer?
You set how long the rep's phone rings. If nobody answers in that time, the transfer is treated as failed and the agent returns to the lead, apologizes, and books a meeting or a callback, so the lead is never left on hold. With a warm transfer, the rep hears a private summary of the lead before the lead joins the call.
Which CRMs and calendars does it work with?
HubSpot, Salesforce, Microsoft Dynamics 365, GoHighLevel, and Zoho CRM are native integrations for looking up and updating leads and logging calls. Cal.com, Calendly, and GoHighLevel calendars check availability and book natively. Other CRMs and calendars connect through custom functions that call their API during the call, or webhooks that send results after it.
Do we need consent to call web leads?
Usually, and the details depend on where you and the lead are. Confirm with your counsel what consent your form captures, which calling hours apply, and how revoked consent is honored. Retell gives you the controls: the disclosure the agent reads, the hours your trigger dials, do-not-call handling, and a transcript of every call. See the TCPA compliance guide. This is not legal advice.
How much does AI speed to lead cost on Retell?
Pay-as-you-go voice agents cost $0.07 to $0.31 per minute, depending on the language model, voice, and telephony you choose, with $10 in free credits to start and no contract. Twenty concurrent calls are included, and calls above your limit can run in burst mode at an extra $0.10 per minute. Enterprise plans have custom pricing. See pricing for your mix.
How is speed to lead different from lead follow-up?
Speed to lead is the first call, placed seconds after a new lead comes in, while they still remember asking. Lead follow-up covers the attempts after that: answering the lead's calls back, working aged leads over several attempts, and no-show recovery. Most teams run both, with the same agent rules and CRM.
