AI Service Booking for Home and Field Service Jobs

Service scheduling for the customers who call instead of booking online. The agent takes the job type and address, checks your service area and open windows, books the job in your scheduling system, and sends emergencies to the on-call tech. Run a pilot on your real calls before you sign a contract.
Trusted by over 4,000 businesses powering 100+ million calls per month.
How It Works

Set up AI service booking in four steps, from your scheduling system to live bookings on your existing number.

Connect your scheduling system
Connect your field service software or calendar through custom functions, or GoHighLevel, Cal.com, or Calendly natively, then write the rules for service areas, job types, time windows, and which calls go to a person.
Test on real service calls
Run simulated calls with addresses outside your area, emergencies at 10pm, customers who already booked online, and callers who change their mind, and grade every run before a customer calls.
Connect your number
Keep your existing number by importing it over a SIP trunk or forwarding it from your carrier, then start with after-hours calls or one branch before the rest.
Go live and track bookings
Every call gets a transcript and post-call extraction, so you can track jobs booked, emergencies sent to the on-call tech, and calls that ended without a booking.
Use Cases

Service jobs booked on the call, not called back tomorrow

Service technician unloading tools from a van outside a home
First-ring booking for inbound service calls

Need the caller booked before they hang up and try the next company on the search results. In home services the first business to answer usually gets the job, and a callback an hour later often finds the customer already booked elsewhere. The agent answers every call, asks what the job is and where, checks the address against your service area, and offers the next open window. It books the job on the call with appointment booking and reads back the date, the window, and what to expect.

Flooded yard and house after a storm
Emergencies sorted from routine jobs

Need a flooded basement at 10pm treated differently from a filter change. You list the words that mean an emergency in your trade, such as no heat, no AC, water coming through the ceiling, or a burst pipe. Those calls go straight to your on-call tech or manager with a warm transfer. Routine requests after hours get booked into the next open window or logged for the morning, so nobody is woken up for a tune-up. Restoration teams that need the full after-hours line covered use a restoration answering service.

Dispatcher reviewing the day's schedule at a desk
Bookings written into your scheduling system

Need the job in your system without anyone re-keying it from a voicemail. The agent checks openings and writes the booking through your scheduler's API, or books a GoHighLevel, Cal.com, or Calendly calendar natively. Teams that do not book straight onto a technician can have the agent book into a holding calendar or a morning or afternoon window, and a dispatcher assigns the tech later. That also works when technician calendars are not kept current: the customer gets a window, not a promise the schedule cannot keep.

Homeowner answering a phone call at home
Web leads called and booked in minutes

Need form fills from your site and ads called while the homeowner is still thinking about the job. A form submission can trigger an outbound call through the API, and the agent reads your required disclosure, confirms the name and address from the form, and offers open appointment times from your scheduler. Customers who already booked online are filtered out before the call is placed, so nobody gets called about an appointment they made themselves. Qualification questions come after the booking, not before. See lead follow-up for home services.

Sales rep meeting homeowners in their kitchen for an estimate
Confirmation calls before the visit

Need tomorrow's estimates confirmed so the sales rep does not drive to an empty house. The agent calls each customer on your list through batch calling, confirms the time, and checks what your team needs to be true, such as every decision maker being home, an hour set aside, or the job being a full replacement rather than a repair. Reschedules go back into your calendar on the same call, and anything the customer pushes back on is logged for a person to follow up.

Mechanic with a clipboard next to a car in a repair shop
Auto repair, tire, and dealership service

Need service booked for vehicles as well as homes. The same booking pattern covers repair shops and tire centers, where the agent collects year, make, model, and the problem before offering a slot, in auto repair booking. Dealer groups booking service lanes across several rooftops use dealership service scheduling, and HVAC companies use HVAC service booking.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions.

Does Retell connect to ServiceTitan, Housecall Pro, or Jobber?

Retell does not ship a prebuilt connector for ServiceTitan, Housecall Pro, Jobber, or other field service software. The agent reaches your system through custom functions that call its API during the call to check openings and book the job, or through webhooks that send the booking after the call. GoHighLevel, Cal.com, and Calendly are native integrations that check availability and book on their calendars without custom code. Your team, a Retell solution partner, or our team builds the connection once.

What if our technicians do not keep their calendars up to date?

Then the agent should not promise exact times. It can offer time windows, such as morning or afternoon, or book into a holding calendar that a dispatcher reviews and assigns. The customer gets a confirmed window, your dispatcher keeps control of who goes where, and the tech can call ahead before arriving.

How does the agent handle emergency calls?

You define what counts as an emergency for your trade and where those calls go. When a caller describes one, the agent transfers the call to your on-call number. With a warm transfer, it waits for someone to pick up and briefs them privately on the address and the problem before connecting the caller. Routine requests after hours are booked into the next open window or logged for the morning.

Can the agent call leads from our website forms?

Yes. Your form or CRM can trigger an outbound call through the Retell API as soon as the lead comes in, and batch calling handles lists. You write the disclosure the agent reads at the start of the call, and you are responsible for having consent to call. Leads who already booked online can be filtered out before the call is placed.

How much does AI service booking cost on Retell?

Pay-as-you-go voice agents cost $0.07 to $0.31 per minute, depending on the language model, voice, and telephony you choose, with $10 in free credits to start and no contract. Twenty concurrent calls are included, and calls above your limit can run in burst mode at an extra $0.10 per minute. Enterprise plans have custom pricing. See pricing for your mix.

How is this different from an answering service?

An answering service takes a message and someone calls back. The agent books the job during the call: it checks your service area, offers an open window, writes the booking to your system, and sends emergencies to the on-call tech. Your team starts the morning with booked jobs instead of a list of callbacks.
