Auto repair scheduling for the calls nobody can pick up. The agent takes the vehicle and the problem, sorts diagnostics from quotes, books an open slot in your shop system, and leaves pricing to your rules. Run a pilot on your real calls before you sign a contract.
Trusted by over 4,000 businesses powering 100+ million calls per month.
How It Works

Set up AI booking for your auto repair or tire shop in four steps, from your shop system to live bookings on your shop number.

Connect your shop system
Connect your shop management system or online scheduler through custom functions, or a calendar you already book on, then write the rules for job lengths, diagnostic slots, prices you quote, and calls that go to a person.
Test on real shop calls
Run simulated calls with unclear symptoms, callers who do not know their trim, tire size questions, and mid-call time changes, and grade every run before a customer calls.
Connect your shop number
Keep your shop number by importing it over a SIP trunk or forwarding it from your carrier, then start with after-hours and weekend calls before covering the whole day.
Go live and track bookings
Every call is transcribed and analyzed, so you can track appointments booked, job types, quote requests, and calls handed to the shop.
Use Cases

Repair and tire appointments booked while your team works on cars

Auto repair shop closed for the night
After-hours and weekend repair bookings

Need the evening and Sunday calls from people trying to get their car in booked instead of sent to voicemail. For many shops, most missed calls land after closing and on weekends, and a voicemail that says to book online loses the ones who wanted to talk to someone. The agent answers, asks what the car needs, checks your scheduler for the next open slot, and books it with appointment booking on the call. It reads back the day, time, and vehicle so the customer knows it is done.

Mechanic working under a car on a lift
Intake while your techs are under a car

Need the phone answered when the only person in the shop is the one turning wrenches. The agent collects the customer's first and last name, a good callback number, the year, make, and model, and the concern in their words, whether that is a headlight, a brake noise, or an oil change. If you would rather quote and book yourself, it stops there and sends you the details, so you call back with a quote or text one from your shop system. Shops that want sales and general questions covered too use an automotive answering service.

Diagnostic scan tool connected to a car
Diagnostic, inspection, or repair quote

Need each call booked as the right kind of job. The agent asks what the caller sees, hears, or wants done and sorts the call into a diagnostic, a pre-purchase inspection, a repair quote, or routine maintenance, using the questions you write. Mobile mechanics can set fixed visit windows and a rule against same-day or next-day bookings, and the agent captures the vehicle and the address for the visit. It does not guess at a repair or a cause.

Customer talking to staff at an auto shop service counter
Pricing on your rules, not the agent's

Need prices given only where you are comfortable giving them. Some shops quote flat rates on simple jobs, like an oil change or a diagnostic fee, and keep everything else for a person. You list the prices the agent may quote from your own price list, and every other price question becomes a quote request with the vehicle and concern attached for your team. Nothing outside your list is ever quoted.

Mechanic fitting a new tire on a car
Tire fitment and install booking

Need tire calls taken from vehicle to booked install. The agent asks for year, make, model, and trim, then gets the tire size from a lookup you provide instead of guessing it, and confirms the size with the caller. It asks how they drive and what matters most, such as comfort, safety, or budget, checks inventory through your system's API, recommends options with your prices, and books the install. Speech normalization reads sizes and warranty terms as spoken numbers, so sixteen is not read out as one six.

Driver on the phone checking on her car
Is my car ready and status calls

Need status calls off the front counter. If your shop management system has an API, the agent looks up the open job by the caller's phone number and reads back the status your system shows, such as waiting on approval, in progress, or ready for pickup. When the car is waiting on a part or an approval, it offers a transfer or a callback. Dealer groups use dealership service scheduling, and the wider booking pattern for home and field service is AI service booking.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions.

Does Retell connect to Tekmetric, Shopmonkey, or other shop management software?

Retell does not ship a prebuilt connector for shop management software. If your system has an API, the agent reaches it through custom functions during the call to check openings, book the job, and look up repair status, or through webhooks after the call. If it has no API, the agent can collect the booking details and send them to your team, or book a calendar such as Cal.com, Calendly, or GoHighLevel natively.

Will the agent quote repair prices?

Only the prices you allow. You give it a list of flat rates it may quote, such as an oil change or a diagnostic fee, and every other price question becomes a quote request with the vehicle and concern attached. It does not estimate repairs.

What vehicle details does the agent collect?

Whatever your shop needs to book the job, usually year, make, model, the problem in the caller's words, and the customer's name and callback number. Tire shops add trim and driving needs. The agent repeats important details back to confirm them, and you can test how it handles unclear answers in simulated calls before going live.

What happens when a caller wants to talk to a person?

You decide which calls go to your team, such as a comeback repair, a complaint, or a car that is unsafe to drive. The agent then transfers the call, or takes a callback request with the details when nobody is free. A warm transfer briefs your team privately on the vehicle and the request before connecting the caller.

How much does AI booking for an auto repair shop cost on Retell?

Pay-as-you-go voice agents cost $0.07 to $0.31 per minute, depending on the language model, voice, and telephony you choose, with $10 in free credits to start and no contract. Twenty concurrent calls are included, and calls above your limit can run in burst mode at an extra $0.10 per minute. Enterprise plans have custom pricing. See pricing for your mix.

How is this different from online booking on our website?

Online booking covers the customers who book on your site. The agent covers the ones who call: it asks what the car needs, helps a caller who is unsure of the problem, and books the slot in the same scheduler your online booking uses, as long as it has an API. Both paths fill one schedule.
